CIS students were surprised with a phenomenal music assembly today! We are proud to be the FIRST school on Kanin Wren's tour 🎶
Her message of "Less Screen Time, More Dream Time" is such an important reminder for our students, and they absolutely loved the experience. Thank you, Kanin Wren, for inspiring our students to dream big and chase their passions!

Cheboygan High School students in grades 7-12th, along with Inverness Academy students, had the privilege of attending an assembly today to hear a motivational speech from coach Nightingale. He is currently coaching men's hockey at Michigan State University and has had quick success there. He will also be coaching the 2027 US National Junior Team. What an honor and privilege to hear his story and see our students learn such impactful life lessons.

CAS was recently awarded the 61v CTE Expansion Grant! Today, we are in Lansing learning how we can use this grant to improve our CTE programing.
The state awarded a total of 87 grants to 56 school districts throughout the state, awarding more than $24.2 million, specifically, for CTE expansion!
We will be using the grant to offer a new exploratory program for grades 6-8! This program will offer several different learning opportunities/units, such as 3D printing, Drones, Robotics, CAD/Drafting, etc.

In all US History classes this year, volunteer Linda Roger's came in to speak about the role of women during WWII. As Rosie the Riveter she explained that a special exhibit about Rosies would be on display at the Mackinaw Icebreaker Museum Ship this summer. Through the combined generosity and efforts of the museum and the American Rosie the Riveter Association, all students received a free ticket to the museum. Thank you Linda, and an even bigger Thank You to all the women who worked for our nation during WWII!

Congratulations to Chris Borowicz! Chris is the latest recipient of the Cheboygan Challenge Coin, an award given to outstanding employees of the school district who routinely go above and beyond CAS expectations.
Chris is a long-time Cheboygan Area Schools employee with 23 years of service. He currently works as a full-time daytime custodian at the Intermediate School and a part-time bus driver. He values building positive connections with students, often serving as the first and last staff member they see each day, and uses humor to engage them. Chris frequently subs on bus routes and is familiar with all of them. He also serves as president of USW Local 9998, representing custodians, food service workers, aides, and paraprofessionals.
Originally from Cheboygan and a 1986 graduate of Cheboygan High School, Chris served six years in the U.S. Navy as a Boiler Technician before returning home. After working in various jobs, he joined CAS and has been a valued member of the district ever since. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time at his cabin in Hulbert in the Upper Peninsula, appreciating the quiet and relaxation it offers. Thank you, Chris, for your dedication to the school district and your leadership. Go Chiefs!

Our Welding classes had the pleasure of working with Zach Miller from Lincoln Electric. They did some collaborative robotic training today with a hands on fire pit project. Weather had caused this event to be delayed numerous times, but today we were able to make it happen.
