Good Sunday Evening,

A BIG Thank you to the Cheboygan Sports Booster Club for the generous purchase of our new tunnel for home football games this season! As many of you know, the Sports Booster Club provides approximately $50,000 in annual support to our athletic programs. This tunnel is just the latest example of their ongoing commitment and generosity toward our student-athletes. Go Chiefs!


NEW…MSU Extension Morning Camp (Grades 6–8)

Dates: July 14–17
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: High School Home Economics Room
Capacity: Limited to 20 Students

We are pleased to offer a hands-on summer camp focused on nutrition education and essential life skills for students entering grades 6–8.

Teen Cuisine Workshops:
Students will participate in engaging sessions covering topics such as:

  • My Plate basics

  • Label reading and portion control

  • The importance of breakfast

  • Identifying healthy vs. unhealthy foods

  • Hidden sugars and food safety

  • Making healthy snack choices

Life Skills & Mindfulness Activities:
Each day includes activities that support emotional development and self-awareness, such as:

  • Creating calming jars

  • Nature scavenger hunts and planting

  • Self-portrait exercises

  • Learning how to care for younger children

Summer Facility Updates

Our custodial and maintenance teams are hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. Here are some key updates:

Classroom Relocations:

  • 2nd Grade moving to Intermediate Building

  • 7th Grade moving to High School

  • New PreK classrooms opening in the Elementary School

These transitions, along with deep cleaning efforts, are on track for completion by mid-July.

Gym Floor Repainting:

  • Ahead of schedule

  • Gym will remain closed for at least two more weeks

Track Replacement Project:

  • Currently going out to bid

  • Target completion: Fall 2025

  • Temporary relocation planned for the soccer team

Thunder Bay Expansion:

  • Expansion will extend into the parking lot

  • Funded through a grant

  • Will include space for an additional Nurse Practitioner in 2025–26

Tennis and Pickleball Courts:

  • New courts planned

  • Bidding process to begin soon


PreK Enrollment Now Open

We are expanding our PreK program with two new classrooms for the 2025–26 school year.

  • 32 total seats available

  • 25 already filled

K–6 Summer Jumpstart Academy

Dates: August 4–7 and August 11–14

The academy provides targeted academic support in Math and English based on student assessment data.

Kindergarten Camp

Dates: August 18–22

This program helps incoming kindergarteners ease the transition into school with a focus on confidence, connection, and comfort.  For registration, please contact Deanna Duffton at dufftond@chebschools.com.


District AI Team Launch (2025–26)

Cheboygan Area Schools is proud to introduce our new District AI Team, comprised of representatives from each school. In partnership with COPESD and neighboring districts, the team will explore effective uses of AI in education.

In-Person Meetings:

  • August 14 – Cohort Kickoff

  • November 13 – Final Session & Review

Virtual collaboration will take place between meetings. The team will present findings during a winter professional development session.
