Congratulations to Stephanie Preston!

One of the most rewarding parts of working in education is recognizing the people who make a lasting difference in the lives of our students. This week, we had the pleasure of recognizing Stephanie Preston at our Board of Education meeting for her outstanding dedication and service to Cheboygan Area Schools.

For more than a decade, Stephanie has devoted her time, energy, and heart to serving our Special Education students. The work she does matters, and the care and commitment she brings to our students and school community deserve to be celebrated.

Julie Lohela and Deb Buehner had the honor of presenting Stephanie with the Board's "Excellence in Education" award earlier this week as well. It was a special opportunity to say "thank you" to someone who has given so much to our students over the past years. We appreciate you, we are grateful to have you on our team, and we are proud to recognize you for your outstanding work!

East Elementary Construction Update

It was another great week of progress at East Elementary! We reached several important milestones, and it is exciting to see our new school taking shape. The exterior metal panels are now **complete**, and the contractor has finished that portion of the work and moved off-site. Both the exterior framing inspection and the final structural steel inspection passed this week!

The new metal panels are giving the building a fresh, updated look. Behind the scenes, crews continue to make progress both on the roof and inside the building, taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather.

**Looking Ahead:** Next week, crews plan to begin interior wall framing, starting in the bathroom areas to accommodate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. They will also continue preparing the exterior for the air barrier, installing window blocking, and getting ready for upcoming window and millwork measurements. Brick masons are expected to begin in approximately two to three weeks.

We have also started clearing materials from the south parking lot so we can reopen more parking for parents and prepare for winter snow removal. Hopefully, we can enjoy a few more weeks of this beautiful fall weather before winter arrives!

It is rewarding to see this project continue to move forward and to watch a building that will serve our students, staff, and community for years to come become a reality. Thank you to our families, staff, and community members for your patience and support throughout construction. We look forward to sharing more progress with you in the weeks ahead!

Cheboygan High School is launching Present & Perks, a new initiative celebrating full classroom attendance with surprise visits and fun rewards! We're seeking donations of small items like snacks, school supplies, and lip balm from families and local partners to keep our Perk Pantry stocked.
