East Elementary North Wing Work
Work on the East Elementary North Wing is scheduled to begin this week and will continue into October. The work will include exterior demolition, preparation, and installation of new metal panels around the North Wing.
Upcoming schedule:
Thursday, Sept. 17: Contractors will enter classrooms at 3:30 p.m. to mark the locations of the new exterior openings. No cutting will take place inside the classrooms.
Saturday, Sept. 19: Exterior demolition of the EIFS around the classroom openings will begin.
Sunday, Sept. 20: Custodial staff may return to clean the North Wing classrooms to ensure they are ready for students and staff Monday morning.
Monday, Sept. 21: Plywood installation will begin on the exterior at the southernmost classroom and continue north around the building.
Monday, Oct. 5: Installation of the new exterior metal panels will begin at the southernmost classroom and continue north around the building.
Minimizing Disruptions
Contractors will stop work and return to the fenced construction area during student arrival and dismissal. Work will stop at 7:50 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. and resume after 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The contractor will have personnel on-site throughout next week to monitor the work, address any issues, and assist teachers with questions or concerns.
This schedule is considered realistic, but weather and rain may cause some delays.
This gives families the important dates and, more importantly, reassures them that the work will be coordinated around student arrival and dismissal.
