Construction at East Elementary continues to make steady progress as crews work toward key milestones over the coming weeks. Major mechanical work is advancing, with all vertical unit ventilators (VUVs) now installed in classrooms and the overhead ductwork above the ceilings complete. Construction of the mechanical room mezzanine has been completed, with the metal grates scheduled for installation this week. The new roofing project is approximately 50% complete as crews continue working from the south end of the building toward the north.

Interior finishes are also progressing well. Ceramic wall tile has now been completed in nine of the ten new restrooms, while epoxy flooring and luxury vinyl tile installation are beginning throughout the building. Painting preparations have started in the gymnasium, with classroom painting scheduled to follow from the south end of the building moving north. Foundation work continues, including recent concrete pours for new wall foundations.

Over the next week, construction teams will focus on installing the building's new air handlers, completing drywall installation, filling and pressure testing the two new boilers, installing new classroom marker boards, completing ceiling grid installation in classrooms and restrooms, and continuing fireproofing work above the ceilings. Additional work will include: backfilling foundation walls, excavating interior piers, installing restroom fixtures, completing door installations, and advancing electrical upgrades.

The roofing project will continue to move forward while crews coordinate mechanical and electrical work throughout the building. As interior finishes progress, contractors will also begin removing floor protection and preparing for the building's first deep cleaning. Overall, the renovation remains on schedule, and we continue to see excellent progress as East Elementary moves closer to welcoming students and staff into a modernized learning environment.
