UPDATE: Cheboygan Area Schools will be learning remotely through December 22, 2020.
Cheboygan Area Schools has extended remote learning for all students K-12 through December 22, 2020. As you are probably aware, the Governor and State Health Department, extended remote learning for high school students. We made the difficult decision to extend remote learning for all students for the following reasons. Covid cases in Cheboygan County increased by 182 cases from Nov. 23 - Dec. 6, a 30% increase in just two weeks. We have had four staff members test positive for Covid, and one of them passed away from Covid last weekend. We feel that it is important to maintain a sense of continuity with learning. We did not want to bring students back, only to have to go back to remote after a couple of days due to quarantines. After discussions with school board members and administrators, we decided that it was in the best interest of students and staff to remain virtual through the winter break. At the present time, we intend to return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
